Blending punk energy with folk grit, Violent Femmes are one of the most distinctive and enduring bands to emerge from the American alt-rock scene. Formed in Milwaukee in 1981, the trio broke out with their iconic self-titled debut album, featuring rebellious anthems like “Blister in the Sun,” “Add It Up,” and “Gone Daddy Gone.” Raw, rhythmic, and defiantly offbeat, their sound defied easy categorization and earned them a dedicated global following. Over four decades later, Violent Femmes continue to tour and record, influencing generations of artists with their acoustic aggression, poetic angst, and unforgettable live shows.
