Celebrating 28 years of thrilling competition, the World Stock Dog Championship is one of the Calgary Stampede’s most unique and captivating events. These incredibly agile and intelligent dogs showcase their skills by guiding three sheep through a challenging course—navigating tight turns, open fields, and tricky pens—all in under four minutes.

Sanctioned by the Alberta Stock Dog Association, the 2025 championship kicks off Tuesday, July 8, with 60 entries battling for a spot in the finals. The second round continues Wednesday morning, July 9, with only the top 12 dogs advancing to the championship final that afternoon in the Nutrien Western Events Centre. It’s an unforgettable display of instinct, training, and four-legged focus you won’t want to miss!
